This is the story of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The beautiful piece of land that is famous for its alluring sightseeing and downright hospitality. But, there are other things Khyber Pakhtunkhwa celebrated for years; that is its centuries-old craftsmanship by its own people.
Surprising enough, right?
The artifacts in the region kept the national and international markets hooked in love till centuries. Then, the unfortunate insurgency in the region shook the industry by its roots. The linkages were torn and the artisans were compelled to survive by leaving the occupation they once gave their hearts to. Hence, their craftsmanship died.
We are here with the notion that ‘ideas don’t die’. For the revival of what we once lost, Pakhtun Wardrobe emerged in 2015 from the same region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. To rejuvenate the war-torn craftsmanship and for the empowerment of the artisans, we are showcasing and selling best handpicked Pakhtun built artifacts all over Pakistan and beyond borders.
A man from Swat conceived the idea and took the lead. While Farhan Bogra put his mind to figure out where to start, Haris Badar sorted all the Whys. Both founders have one thing in common, their love for Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
When Haris observed the wretched condition of local economy and the long-lost opportunity, burned the midnight oil in gathering the artisans back together, doing their orientations, giving them resources, adding further value to their skills and then furnishing the platform for them, an e-commerce platform exhibiting their artifacts crafted with nothing but love.
To us, ethics come first and we make sure of it on every step we take. By stepping into this journey, we made a social promise; a promise to create a safe workplace for our artisans where child labor is strictly not allowed and fair wages would be encouraged.
To make things fair and transparent, we try to work directly with our artisans to diminish the role of any intermediary that can exploit their efforts. We also ensure to provide maximum profit to our artisans so they get the access to basic social facilities ultimately raising their living standards.
